CALCULATED METHOD WITH HELP

What is the calculated method?

This method uses the GFIC nutrient database to convert your product formula into an Nutrition Fact Table. This method is not suitable for products that experience significant chemical or physical changes during the manufacturing process or if you plan to make a Canadian food claim.

  • Requires amount of each ingredient by weight, description of process and yield information (e.g. moisture loss)

  • Accuracy depends on available information

What is the difference between calculated vs. calculated with help?

The calculated with help method provides guidance and instruction during each step of the process (i.e., filling out the formula sheet).

  • Great for beginners or individuals wanting to learn more

  • More expensive than the regular calculated method as their is more guidance

Food products best suited for the calculated method

  • Products that do NOT experience significant chemical or physical changes during the manufacturing process

  • Products you do NOT intend to make a Canadian food claim about

Example: Hummus

Example: Granola

Example: Tomato Sauce
